My Autumn 2022 TBR

My Autumn 2022 TBR

Hi friends! šŸ‘‹šŸ» We’re getting closer to autumn, which means that we’re almost at Halloween! Of course, if you’re anything like me, every day is Halloween because I have watched almost nothing but horror movies for two years now.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a long time, you’ll know about Spooky Month and Sci-Fi Month, so those should give you the reasons why my autumn TBRs are always exclusively horror and sci-fi.

Hide by Kiersten White - I just started reading this one this weekend so I don’t have much to say just yet!

Reprieve by James Han Matson - I got this book from my library and while it sounds very interesting, my brain keeps gravitating away from the story to the social commentary side that I keep reading about. I love horror that has social commentary, so I’ll be taking my time with this one.

The Woods Are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins - I don’t follow a lot of authors on social media anymore, and Stephanie Perkins isn’t that active anyway, so I didn’t know that this book existed until I saw it on the shelves in bookshops. I really enjoyed There’s Someone Inside Your House so I’m excited to see how this one turns out!

Mina and the Undead by Amy McCaw - It’s been so long since I said I was going to read this book that it now has a sequel. Whoops.

My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones - I’ve heard a lot of good things about SGJ’s books and I was trying to choose between this book and The Only Good Indians, which I also have a copy of but since this book has been described as a love letter to slashers, I decided to go with it.

Aurora’s End by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - How many times have I put this book on a seasonal TBR?? But seriously, I’m determined to finally read this so that it’s not laughing at me from my bedside anymore.

The This by Adam Roberts - I mentioned this in my Adult TBR post, and I’m still very interested to see how it turns out!

Mirror’s Edge by Scott Westerfeld - I think I got this book for Christmas last year but my brain is getting fuzzier and fuzzier so I don’t remember, but Scott Westerfeld is a favourite of mine so it doesn’t really matter when I got the book.

The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson - Another one I talked about before, I’m hoping that someone doesn’t get it from the library before I do.

Youngbloods by Scott Westerfeld - This is not only a new addition to my shelves but one that I was surprised to find out about because I am terrible at keeping up with new releases. Things just appear on shelves and then I get surprised that they exist.

On the cover of The Woods are always Watching, text is used very effectively. It looks scary but intriguing.

You’ve got some great reads lined up, I enjoyed Hide, Mina and the Undead, My Heart is a Chainsaw and The This. I only realised a few years ago that I’d started reading horror without realising it, and now I have a whole new genre to delve into and add to my lists.

I recently saw a 99p deal for Johnson’s book on Kindle and immediately scooped it up cos I’ve heard lots of good things about it. I also still need to finish the Aurora Cycle but I’m not looking forward to saying bye to these characters! I hope you enjoy all of these books šŸ™‚

That’s a good deal! I think not wanting to say bye to the characters is why I’ve put off finishing the Aurora Cycle too šŸ˜…

My Heart Is a Chainsaw is definitely a letter to slasher movies. Definitely want to go back at some point and watch all the movies it mentioned that I haven’t seen. Hope you get a chance to pick all these up!

Not really planning seasonal TBRs, though I do have a TBR that I am building for October, featuring tons of spookiness.
I hope you enjoy all your books on your list, Mina and the Undead was fab! And I see a few others I would like to put on my Spooktober list~
