10 Books I Was Excited to Get But Still Haven’t Read Yet

Hi friends! 👋🏻 I am two things when it comes to books: forgetful and a total procrastinator. If I know when a book is coming out and either pre-order it or buy it as soon as it comes out, that’s kind of an achievement for me. However, it also means that I am more likely to forget that it exists and will sit on my shelves for months or even years.

This post here is me holding myself accountable for all of the books that I scooped up and then forgot about. Or at least ten of them because there are a lot more.

Today I’m linking up to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl!

The Damned by Renee Ahdieh – In this post-pandemic-but-not-really world, my brain won’t let me remember when I read the first book in this series but I have a feeling that it was towards the end of 2019 and this book wasn’t even out yet. Now, there are two sequels and I have both but still haven’t read either of them. I am still very excited to read them because I have a feeling that the vampires will actually be vampiring in them. Also, vampiring is now a word and if you use it, I’ll expect royalties.

Aurora’s End by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – I’m not doing so bad with this one because it is on my immediate TBR and I will get to it!! In July, that is. I was considering putting it on my June TBR for Pride, but I don’t know if it counts or not because there are three characters who are said to be queer but their sexualities don’t come up that often.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff – I understand that there has been some controversy surrounding Kristoff and this book but I don’t know the exact details of that so I won’t be going into that. However, as I have stated many times before, I see vampires, my mind goes blank and only focuses on that. I should have read this book by now but I still haven’t because my brain likes to get distracted by other things.

Mirror’s Edge by Scott Westerfeld – Hoo boy, am I kicking myself for this one. Scott Westerfeld is my favourite author and has been for a very long time so I should be on the ball when it comes to his books, but they always creep up on me. I was late to Impostors to begin with. I guess this is what happens when you don’t follow authors on social media.

Mina and the Undead by Amy McCaw – I think my biggest problem with buying books is that I find out something has vampires in it, I buy it and then completely forget about it because I already have five hundred vampire books to read. I should get to this one in the summer and if I don’t I am going to kick myself.

Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo – I have this one on my immediate TBR so I’m not doing to badly this time! It took me a while to read King of Scars so I guess it’s understandable why it’s taking me so long to get around to the sequel.

All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater – I like Maggie Stiefvater’s books but I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a big fan of hers, so I’m a little surprised that I bought All the Crooked Saints pretty much as soon as it came out. Compared to her other books, I barely see anybody talk about this one anymore so I guess I’m still excited to dive into this one without knowing much.

The Woods are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins – Stephanie Perkins is one of those authors who doesn’t seem to release books very often, but every time she does I’ve enjoyed what she’s put out. I was a huge fan of her contemporary romances back in the day, but I think she’s found a good place with horror so I was unbelievably excited to read her second horror novel. And I still haven’t read it yet.

Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu – If you follow me on Twitter (which you should because I am hilarious) you’ll know that I have been a massive DC fan for a long time and when the DC Icons series of YA books was first announced I couldn’t wait to read all of them (minus the Catwoman one because no thank you). I have read the Wonder Woman and Superman books and loved them, but I still have yet to read the Batman one for some reason.

This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner – How long has it been since this book was released? I honestly couldn’t say without Googling it but this book has been on my TBR way longer than any of the other books I’ve mentioned in this post. It’s been so long since I read the first book in the series that I’m not sure if I’d need to reread it before continuing on with the series.

Oh Rule the Wolves has been on my tbr since it came out but I haven’t even bought it yet. I was sort of dissapointed by King of Scars so I’ve been putting it off. But I will get to it someday.

It definitely has an interesting premise, but I think I was Batmaned out when I tried to read it the first time.

I had Aurora’s End on my TTT list today as well. You’ve also just reminded me that I’ve got All the Crooked Saints on my shelf (oops)! 😂 I hope you enjoy these books whenever you get around to reading them.

I never finished the Starbound series and I can’t remember if I ever picked up this second book. I ended up unhauling the series not too long ago because I was no longer emotionally attached. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to continue.

I have tons of books that I should unhaul but I’m too much of a chicken to do it 🙈

I don’t buy new books too often, but when I do I have to SUPER anticipate their release. Of course, I also just end up leaving them on the shelf for ages. I have had The Bronzed Beasts sitting on my shelf since it came out and still haven’t read it. Good luck getting through these books! 🙂

I would be pretty tempted to just leave The Bronzed Beasts on display since the cover is so gorgeous 😍

I had to make a lot of cuts for my list too, there are just too many for me to remember! 😂

Mina & the undead is one i’ve been wanting to read too! Another one that I had been talking about wanting to read, I remember telling a friend back when the first of the Fear Street (94) launched- has been the final girl support group. Ithink I even saw that my library had it- and yet I still hasn’t read it 😅

Ooh, The Final Girl Support Group has been on my list for a while! I saw that my library has ordered it so I may get to it soon but it’ll more likely take me a while to get to it 😂
