hello! i’m louise

I’m an Autistic library assistant from the North East of England who has a passion for books and movies. I read and watch pretty much every genre under the sun because it’s one of the only things I’m not picky about. And I’m picky about a lot of things. My passion for books has always been there since I’ve been reading since an incredibly early age and was usually a reading level or two above my classmates at school. Not that I’m bragging about it. Even though I’ve fallen away from reading a few times throughout my childhood, I started to pick it up properly again when I was eleven and made my school library a second home.

As well as books, I also love TV shows, especially those that are animated, and video games, which I’ve also enjoyed since a very young age. Everything I do in my life is because I started doing it a long time ago #funfact.

When I’m not reading, I can be found buying more books, watching movies, playing video games, tweeting everything that pops into my head, writing fanfiction or annoying my pets.

about the blog

I first started blogging in September 2011. My first blog has since been deleted thanks to me destroying the code somehow (oops) but went through several name changes that reflected different tastes at the time.

I started Monstrumology in April 2020 as a fresh new blog and I’ve felt much more at home here under this current name than I have before. Although this blog’s primary focus is books, I’ve never wanted to box myself in with one niche and also use this space to talk about movies and writing, my other two passions in life.

Since 2016, I haven’t written or posted reviews anywhere on the internet as I prefer to write discussion posts and recommendation posts as opposed to full reviews. I may write mini-reviews from time to time, however!

Every October I hold my own Spooky Month event where I dedicate all of my posts to the horror genre and all things spooky, while in November I take part in Sci-Fi Month where all posts are dedicated to science fiction.

I always appreciate comments so don’t be afraid to leave one and spark up a conversation!

This blog is a safe space for people from marginalised communities. I do not tolerate bigotry towards anybody and do not feel obligated to make bullies feel welcome here. If I receive a comment that feels like an ad, I will delete it without responding.
