Animal Crossing New Horizons Book Tag

Animal Crossing New Horizons Book Tag

I have played Animal Crossing every single day ever since I got it in April, and I have absolutely no regrets about that. I love how soothing it is to play and definitely helps me to feel better when I’m feeling down.

If you play it and want to visit my island, let me know!

Past Villager – Who is a character you found when you were younger that still has a place in your heart?

Uglies was probably the first YA book I ever read and it is still one of my absolute favourites. Tally is among my favourite YA heroines and has stuck with me for such a long time that I don’t want to let her go. I hope she does eventually appear in the Impostors series because all of the talk of her is teasing me so much.

Blather’s Blatherings – Recommend a historical fiction book that you think everybody should read

I’m not a huge fan of historical fiction because history is not my favourite subject, but I adore Stalking Jack the Ripper because it’s not only historical, but it’s a mystery. And it’s pretty Gothic, which is a huge plus for me because I love Gothic books. The historical accuracy isn’t always 100% (especially in the second book which annoyed me so much), but the plots and characters make up for that.

Celeste’s Wish – What is a future book release you wish you could read now?

I know that this book is currently out now in the US, but it doesn’t release in the UK until July, so that makes me want to read it so much more. I actually put this book on my Pride Month TBR before I realised that I’d read the UK release date wrong. However, I have put it on my summer TBR so I won’t have to wait too long to read it.

Timmy & Tommy – What is your favourite sibling relationship in a book?

I love the relationship that Sam and Avery have in The Boy Who Steals Houses. I feel like siblings should fiercely look out for one another, and the way that Sam defends and protects Avery with his whole being is something that really warms my heart.

The Easter Bunny – A popular book character that you’re not a big fan of

I feel like I am a little alone in not being a huge fan of Ronan from The Raven Boys. I don’t dislike him and I certainly don’t hate him, but I just find him a little too abrasive for my tastes. I don’t want to be that boring person who demands that every character is nice and polite (because that’s just unrealistic), but characters who are rude to people for whatever reason just don’t do it for me.

Nook’s Loans – An author you’d give all your money to

I have three auto-buy authors: Scott Westerfeld, Leigh Bardugo, and V.E. Schwab. I have enjoyed pretty much every book that these three authors have published (there are a couple of exceptions, obviously) and I have books personally signed by Leigh and Victoria. Now if only I could meet Scott Westerfeld. That would be a dream come true…

The Sisters Able – What is your favourite fictional family (found or otherwise)?

I don’t have a sister so I definitely love to read about sisters more than brothers, and the Song sisters from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before are my absolute favourites. Even though I will never know what it’s like to have a sister, I love how realistic their relationship is. They do fight and get into disagreements, but they always make up at the end.

It’s a C+  – What is a book trope you don’t like that keeps popping up?

I am not a fan of enemies-to-lovers at all. Obviously there are some authors who pull it off well because the characters go from enemies to vaguely trusting, then to trusting properly, then to friends, and then to lovers. If two characters go from hating each other’s guts and being abusive to one another to being in love all of a sudden, I’m noping out of there.

The Wandering Camel – What is your favourite book set in a land far away from yours?

Pretty much every book I read is set in a place far away from me, but the furthest I can think of is Warcross, which is set in Tokyo. This is a futuristic version of Tokyo, but it still makes me want to visit even more than I already do.

What Would Dodos Do?  – A fictional land you wish you could fly away to at any moment?

I really struggled to think of a fictional land I would want to go to because so many of them have more awful things than good things, but I would like to go to Ravka. After The Darkling’s reign is over, of course.
