Announcements, Sci-Fi Month

Happy November, friends! 👋🏻 This month is a very exciting month for me because not only am I starting a new chapter in life, but it is once again Sci-Fi Month! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve taken part in Sci-Fi Month, but this will be my second year on this blog. This event has become such a big tradition for me that I can’t imagine not taking part. I have a lot planned for this month, but what particularly excites me is an outlandish series of posts where I give mini-reviews of every Godzilla movie ever made. Yes, all of them. As with Spooky Month, you can click this wee little banner to see every post I’ve made for Sci-Fi Month on this blog: If you want to take part, there’s still time to sign up over at There’s Always Room for One More and Dear Geek Place!

Hi ghouls! 👋🏻 We’re into the spooky season once again which means that Spooky Month is back! If you’re new around these parts you may not have seen my Spooky Month posts so I shall give you a rundown: Spooky Month is my own annual celebration of all things spooky in books, TV, and movies! Spooky doesn’t mean just horror, it means anything with unnerving elements or paranormal things. I could cover everything from Scooby-Doo to the scariest, goriest things ever made. The sky’s the limit in October! Last year I didn’t get to post as much as I wanted to, but I have done my planning in advance so I have a lot planned for you all. I’m also going to be taking part in #31DaysOfHorror on Twitter which is where you watch a horror movie every day in October. If you want to look back at Spooky Month posts I’ve made in the past, I have made this handy dandy banner to go at the bottom of all of my October posts. When you click on it, it will take you to every post I’ve made for Spooky Month! So, stick around because I have lots of spooky […]

Hi friends! 👋🏻 Today is a very exciting day because I’m bringing my annual Spooky Month to Monstrumology! If you’re new to me, Spooky Month is a month-long event that I’ve done on-and-off since 2012. In October I dedicate all of my posts, reading, and watching habits to all things spooky. What do I mean by spooky? Not just horror! As well as horror I will be talking about thrillers, supernatural stories, Gothic, and my beloved monsters. I don’t do a linky for this event as it’s more for me to share my love of dark things but if you have any posts about spooky things this month do drop me a link and I’ll be sure to share it!

2020 Discussion Challenge

Hi friends! 👋🏻 This is just a quick wee post to let you all know that I’m joining the 2020 Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight! Yes, I know we’re almost halfway through the year but I started up this shiny new blog in April so better late than never. I personally love discussion posts more than any other kind of blog post (yes, even lists) because it gives me the chance to spill every single thought in my brain into a post and then try to make sense of it. And also because I get to hear what other people think! The vast majority of my blog posts could count as discussion posts so I will be aiming for the “Chatty Kathy” level. That may seem ambitious for a first-timer to this challenge, but I don’t write reviews and I don’t do promo posts so I’ll always have time for discussions in my schedule.

Starting Fresh

Hello again! Recently I’d been feeling somewhat frustrated with blogging in general, but more specifically the tech side of it. I am in no way good with computers, I just know how to use one. So seeing that I had completely filled up my disc space on my previous blog was kind of the final straw for me to have a completely fresh start with blogging. It is bittersweet to say goodbye to my old 8-year-old blog, but I think it’s for the best because while trying to fix my disc space problem, I ended up breaking the entire thing. Whoops. I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m not good with computers. Instead of getting in touch with my previous host (who no longer offers free hosting), I decided to grit my teeth, buy a domain, and set up with a new host. And behold! We no longer have Exploring by Starlight, but Monstrumology instead! Why have I swapped the stars for the lab, you ask? There are three reasons: I just don’t feel like a “nerdy” person anymore and I want to move away from that, there’s a blog out there that has a name very similar to my old blog name, […]
