Happy Spooky Month, friends! 🎃 Today marks my annual month-long celebration of all things spooky: horror, gothic, paranormal, even things that are a little creepy, we’re celebrating it all! I have a pretty jam-packed October ahead of me so I wanted to ease into this month with a tag and what better than one about one of my favourite things in the world – horror movies! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll have seen that I’ve been participating in the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days challenge and I have been up to my eyeballs in blood and guts. This tag was created by Royal Reader! zombie apocalypse: a book you would save when civilisation ends Usually, I would say Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld, and while that is still one of my absolute favourites, I’m leaning more towards Vicious these days. vampire: a book you would stake through the heart If you know me, you’ll know that I have a serious grudge against A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. This was the first book I studied for university and I absolutely hated it. In fact, a large majority of my class hated both this book and Joyce so much […]

Hi friends! đŸ‘‹đŸ» I don’t need to say for the millionth time that I’m not a summer person. I hate heat, I hate sweating, I hate sunlight, I just don’t enjoy anything about it. Anyway, I found this fun tag while searching for summer book tags that aren’t a million years old and I like the look of it! This tag was originally created by Bookables on YouTube! 1. sand in your toes – a book that’s perfect to read on the beach I personally believe that every book is a ‘beach read’ because you can read a book anywhere you like. That being said, a book I read in my recent memory that is set near the beach is Prom House by Chelsea Mueller. Not really a traditional ‘beach read’, but it’s short and snappy and takes place in a beach house. 2. summer thunderstorm – a book that truly spooked you I don’t get spooked very easily, but one chapter of Uzumaki made me very uncomfortable. I won’t spoil what it is, but I will say that it solidified my not wanting to ever get pregnant. 3. heating up –  a book that was seriously steamy I don’t really seek out ‘steamy’ books and […]

Hi friends! đŸ‘‹đŸ» It’s the last day of Pride Month and I am finally throwing out my only contribution. I did have a lot of posts planned but things have been very hectic on my end since I went on holiday at the beginning of the month and then came back to a lot of Summer Reading Challenge preparation at work to do. Truly, I am the busiest bee of them all. But anyway, today I am doing the Pride Flag Book Tag, and that rhymes which means that it’s a very good tag! This tag was created by Common Spence on YouTube, and I included the extra question from May @ Forever and Everly! 1. red (life) – a book with a spirited protagonist totally proud of who they are. someone who gives you LIFE! The thing that I love about Felix is that even though he’s proud of his identity as a gay trans boy, he’s still figuring out who he is in the world, and showing the people who doubt him who he really is. His journey isn’t necessarily an easy one, even while being out, but his outlook on his life and his identity is so refreshing to see. […]

Hi friends! đŸ‘‹đŸ» It’s nearly the halfway point in the year, but I have seen this post on both Caro and Destiny‘s blogs and had to do it myself! I’m usually really bad at keeping track of stats so my answers are probably from gut feelings instead of facts 😅 This tag was originally created by Rosin @ Rosin’s Reading over on YouTube! 1. how many books have you read so far? I have read 11 books so far this year and that doesn’t bother me at all. A couple of years ago, I decided to set my Goodreads Challenge goal to just 1 book so that I could keep track of how many books I’d read without any pressure and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in terms of reading. 2. have you already found a book you think might be a 2022 favourite? It’s probably a little too early to say, but I recently read and loved Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan and This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron. 3. if not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars? I haven’t actually given any books five stars yet, but Final Girls by Riley Sager came […]

Hi friends! đŸ‘‹đŸ» I’ve been on the lookout for tags that interest me and finally came across this one! Tags that are about blogging are always fun, especially since I’m an oldie, and I can say more than just show the cover of a book and then more on to the next question, so let’s get into it. how long have you been blogging? I have been blogging on this blog since April 2020 and for some reason, it feels a lot longer than that but maybe it’s because this blog really feels like my home now as opposed to the old messy blog that I barely miss. As for in general, I have been blogging since September 2011, and had a Piczo site and Livejournal before that which I sometimes posted diary entries so I guess I’ve technically been blogging since 2008 or 2009? I don’t think that counts, though. at which point do you think you’ll stop blogging? Once it really stops being fun, I guess. I’ve taken a lot of breaks and hiatuses but coming back has always felt like coming home after being away for a while. what is the best part about blogging? The community! […]
