My Spring 2021 TBR

My Spring 2021 TBR

Hi friends 👋🏻 Spring is almost here and we are almost into one of my least favourite times of the year (I am Squidward in the gif below). I don’t try to make it a secret that I don’t enjoy warmer weather because it makes me grumpy and depressed and it makes my eyes sting so the way I can stop myself from feeling too down in the dumps is by reading.

Recently I’ve been really into dark things and I’ve been in a total horror mood since October thanks to 31 Days of Horror. I want to pull myself out of that a little but how successfully I’ve planned to do that is up for debate 😅

The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe – I haven’t read any YA mysteries or thrillers in a long time and I want to get back into the genre, so I figured what better way to do that than by reading one that is a recent release? Also, I believe this book is queer so that is also a big plus.

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – I’ve seen a lot of love for Becky Chambers’ books, especially from sci-fi bloggers, and I’ve wanted to get into this series for a long time. I got a copy of the first book for Christmas and I can’t wait to get my claws into it.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – I’m actually starting this one again because I started reading this book in October but put it down to start Sci-Fi Month. I didn’t get too far but I did enjoy what I read so I’m looking forward to diving back into it.

Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater – I’m finally continuing on with my priority TBR! It’s been a while since I finished the initial Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy and I’m very curious to see what goes on with Cole and Isabel in this book.

Soldier by Julie Kagawa – This isn’t the greatest series I’ve ever read but I do love the worldbuilding and how Julie Kagawa made dragons her own so I’m not going to give up on it.

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds – I had to put at least one contemporary novel on this TBR because as much as I love genre fiction, I like having some contemporary now and then.

Supernova by Marissa Meyer – I love the worldbuilding in Marissa Meyers’ books and this series is no exception. I really enjoyed the first two books in the series and although I don’t want the series to end, I am still looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline – I’ve already seen some critical views of this one but those are from people who hated the first book and I don’t pay attention to reviews so I’m going to read this book anyway.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – This one will actually be a reread for me! I finally got physical copies of the whole series (that don’t match, oops) after borrowing the first book from the library and then finding out that they didn’t have the rest of the series.

Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite – Going all the way back into dark stuff because that’s been my mood since October, I’ve been meaning to read this book for years and I finally got a copy for my birthday so I can’t wait to knock this one off of my priority TBR.

Nothing wrong with a dark and moody spring TBR! (I am a firm believer that Halloween is the real most wonderful time of the year.) I’m looking forward to Mexican Gothic too–great list!

I loved The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet and Mexican Gothic! I still need to get started on the Renegades series by Marissa Meyer though. I’ve had the first book for ages!
